Mumbai - Terrorism visits the city again!

I am not going to provide any graphic images or any youtube videoes to this post here, as it is more than apparent that no images can truly convey the horror that the whole of India has gone through ever since this latest episode of terror started.

It seems that the basic premise behind this attack was done specifically to diminish the economic prowress of the Nation as a whole. It is a really idiotic theorey, blow up a building and what, India's economy will falter. These guys are idiots, with no remorse perhaps but at the best,idiots. Terrorism does not make any country's economy falter and what's more with this latest terrorist attack, they have highlighted India in more ways than one. Sure, given the choice, we would rather that this attack had not taken place. But at the end of the day, India's economy will grow and do so for the forseeable future. This attack has but strengthend our resolve and it does not matter which part of India they attack, for the resolve of all Indians is universal, we will not be cowed down by such Cowards!

My heart goes out to the innocents and the young who were killed in this latest batch of terrorism from Pakistan [ The evidence is already there and for those of you who find it hard to beleive, go ahead and watch the news channels],no surprise there. But enough ius enough, one can only hope that the Indian government as well as the president of India cracks down on such contries providing support bases to terrorists. The government should start taking effective action by listing out the evidence and provide the same to all countries from China to the United states, tell them that either you are with us or stand against us - the line used by George bush during the 9-11. This action should not end there but should continue with hot pursuit, eliminating all terror bases either with pakistan's co-operation or not. If Pakmistan wants to survive its economic disaster and prevent the country from fragmening, it should take heed to do the same.

When it comes to reporting, I have to say that I was duly impressed by the reporters online 24 hours a day covering every aspect of this attack. To expect any Indian remain unaffected by this attack or remain objective is not realistic but that is exactly what most if not all the reporters did. They managed to provide up to date info on the attacks, provide arguments as to why these terrorists came from paistan and even aired pakistan's objections to the same. One can see why Indian news channels continue to reap rewards for their hard work and for providing 'objectivity' even under duress.

But is hard to make the same argument when it comes to some of the so called foreign channels from the BBC to CNN. With BBC, though they did provide an objective analysis the reporters were more busy with trying to discredit any theories put forth for this attack then examining the terrorist threat under the scanner. Frankly, it surprised me to see a vetran reporter of the likes of christiana amanpour do her best to discredit the government's theorey that the terrorists came from Pakistan. Sure, she gave 'objectivity' her money's worth, probably all 2 cents of it anyway. What did she think, that the terrorists came from nowwhere and went on this terrp spree for no reason at all. Even the common man can figure it out that these guys came well planned and were in this for the long haul. To listen to this particular reporter from CNN, one would think that it is our fault for being a vibrant democracy and a resurgent economy, implying that we caused the terrorists to attack. Shame on you for being so in-sensitive christiana, I hope that you never get to visit my wonderful country ever again. The government should seriously take some action of some sort against this channel, but then again, we are not China- meaning a police state. Under a democracy, we allow everyone to have a right to say what they want, irrespective of thier affiliations or the India hatred that christiana seems to have developed. Either way, christiana please do not bothe coming down here for we are not interested in playing host to the likes of you. I am glad that it is all over, thank you NSG, Marcos, the Army as well as the Navy including the Police. I am sure that no amount of praises or condolences is going to lessen the pain of the loss, but it is essential that we all remember that 'Tommorow is another day, we shall survive and certainly rise, irrespective of what took place'.

Of late, the number of God men originating from one state has increased dramatically, from almost none to a count that is getting larger by the day. The number of remarkable discoveries of 'god men' living in the state of Kerala has increased ever since an expose of sorts was carried out against one of the alleged 'god men', who was then found to be guilty of both fraud and criminal acts against minors.

These god men have been in the news, albeit for the wrong reasons, with most of them being guilty of crimes ranging from fraud, embezzlement, rape and even murder. It is sad to see that there are many gullible people who get taken in by such misfits, time and time again.

It seems that 'god man' is indeed a lucrative career for many aspirants, for nearly most of them get away with their crimes as the people are too scared to report them. These god men use the religious beliefs of such people to their own advantage, take for example the latest god man to hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Madhavan, a self declared ascetic, or that is what one thought of him, was proven to be anything but that. For besides indulging in all that a god man should not indulge in, from the pleasures of the flesh to that of alcohol, Madhavan saw it fit to defraud some honest people of their hard earned cash as well.

Madhavan's case should serve as a wake up case for the people all over the world, for such heinous crimes continues to be committed, not just in India but at almost all the places in the world. It is a much better thing to believe in god than in a god man, for man is not perfection!

Pakistan - an election that never was!

It is that time of the year when all the crazies come out of the closet and one of them just happens to be called Musharraf. The recent events has left no one in doubts as to the veracity of the current election, that said, It does make one wonder why on earth is Musharraf conducting an election that is bound to be derided from all corners of the world.

Pakistani politics does always leave one to wonder 'when is the other shoe going to drop'. Well, it is the very query that is bound to go through Musharraf's head more now than later. His position in the country as one of the most hated person’s right after General Zia is not something to be proud of, but then again, that is the bitter truth, one that Musharraf may well have to come to terms with.

With the United States all eager to prove to the rest of the world that Pakistan is a democratic country, one that no one in his or her right mind would accept, has sent in three senators to act as observers. Yeah, right! They are probably observing all that is taking place right from their hotel rooms since it is not safe for them to walk in the streets.

With one of Musharraf's chief allay lagging behind in the polls; Musharraf seems to be at a loss of words as to what is happening. I think that Musharraf must have harbored a secret desire to be crowned as king at the end of the election. I think that we can all say that is not going to happen anytime soon and even if it did, it would probably be as a result of all the rigging.

This is one election that is turning out to be something else altogether. After all the times that Musharraf had commented on the Kashmir polls, as to how unfair they were, the current situation must indeed be galling for him to say the least. India has since its independence, proved to the rest of the world that the spirit of democracy is vibrant at all corners of the nation. And, today just as Pakistan has finished with the election business, maybe Musharaff may take a page from the India book and make sure that at least the next time around, true democracy takes the place of Musharraf's autocracy. In the end, that is what this is all about, power and who acquires it.

The day that Musharraf got rid off the Supreme Court under false charges, the spirit of democracy fled Pakistan. Just hosting an election that is all in name only will not bring it back. It is high time that Musharraf went into exile; maybe he could ask the Indian leaders for refuge status as they have been accepting refugees since time immemorial. Either way, with Musharraf out of the way, may be we can hold a real election!

Will the music of democracy ever play in Pakistan ever again? With the Human rights indicating that it is standing by its stand that one of the top officials in Pakistan had indicated that there is going to be an 'all out' rigging so that Musharraf's party wins the polls, more and more doubts are being cast on an election which no one believes will ever take place.
And even if it did take place, no one in Pakistan is willing to lay any bets on it being fair and square. With the United States willing to rubber stamp the 'elections' by sending three U.S senators to over see it. What are they here to oversee, the rigging?

The description of Racism has become blurred the last few days thanks to Symonds and Ricky Pointing. These days, calling anyone a ‘monkey’ or even an ‘ass’ can very easily be construed as racism. Probably the monkeys and the asses of real life are feeling a bit insulted that their names can cause so much a flutter.

But now, thanks to Pointing it has gone way beyond the point of no return. One can very easily make out that the India and the Indians are not going to shrug this charge away and that if the right conclusion is not reached, well, the tour will be called of.

For those of you who think that it not going to happen, well, you are smoking the pipe. For one thing, with the fear of elections and the home crowd, the BCCI chairman would have no choice but to be behind his men all the way. If that means calling off the tour, then so be it.

What the Aussies may not realize yet, is that as the country with the largest middle class segment and with a population that is fast matching up to that of China, India has transformed into a homing beacon of sorts for all the corporates, all over the world. Which is why, most of the games that any team plays with the Indian team, nets the largest amount of revenues. In other words, if the tour is called off, for starters, most of the Aussie cricketers would start losing some of the meaty ad contracts that they currently enjoy. And to add to their woes, the Aussie team would no longer be welcome here in India.

What Pointing has single handedly managed to do was to throw the 100 year old cricketing relationship of India – Australia all the way back to the dark ages. It is one thing to tell everyone that you love to win but totally another to say that you will do anything to win the game. Cricket, as a game, is apart from all the other sports, in the sense that it is the one game that still earns its value by being played the right way. It is a game where the cricketers are honor bound to behave with decency, honor and decorum. I think that we can all agree that the Sydney match did not reflect any of that. It is sad to see the Aussie team resort to sledging in order to win the match other than their own talent and to compound their mistake, they had to resort to cheating as well. I guess, Pointing must have thought, ‘in for a penny, in for a pound’.

Indians , like any other colonies of the British empire, had been racially abused by the English for a long while. None of us are still able to forget the genesis of our freedom struggle. So, to say that we Indians are capable to racism is downright ridiculous and irritating at its best. We have a history of standing up against apartheid and we do understand what it means to be singled out just because of your skin color, the British gave us the lesson and it is one that we are not going to forget in a hurry.

None of us believe that Harbajan did utter those monkey words and even if he had done so, it must have been as a result of provocation on the part of Symonds. The question that is just begging to be asked is why on earth did Symonds go ahead and talk to Harbajan? Was it because, Pointing had told him to provoke Harbajan so that it will throw him off his batting? Either way, Pointing is going to realize that he will be apologizing exactly on the eve of the Perth match and even if he does so, it is one apology that none of us are ready to accept. Thanks but no thanks, you racist pig!

The Sydney match will be remembered for all the wrong reasons and I have to say that this is one match that is going to go down in History as a case of 'Monkey madness'. I am truly puzzled by Symonds obsession with the moniker 'monkey'. After all, a name is just that, a name, so why is all the fuss being made about this?

The match would also be remembered for some of the worst umpiring decisions made in a game of Cricket. As it is, the game started out just like any other game, both teams on the edge and each wanting to best the other. Ricky pointing the ignominious captain seem all too pleased with his teams performance until Sachin Tendulkar started blasting away. All one can wonder is that kind of pep talk did Ricky pointing give his team mates before the second innings? Did he tell Symonds to go and talk to Harbajan shingh and make up the entire story about being racially abused or did he provoke Harbajan and did the mess begin that way?

Either way, halfway during the Indian batting in the second innings, Symonds walked up to Harbajan and had a few words with him. Replies were exchanged fast and it seems to me that both were out of order at the least. After all, if one is provoked to uttering a racial slur, then it is only right that both the person who uttered it and the person who provoked it, both should be taken to task. As it is, that does not seem to be the case here.

And to make matters even worse, the Aussies have proved themselves to be utterly bad sports in the sense that they cannot even begin to understand the concept of the Gentleman's game. Many a call was given against the Indian team in favor of the Australian tea, even a rank amateur could see that on the telly, yet the Aussie players did not behave with the amount of honor that this game requires of all its players.

They stood the ground when they were clearly out and the idiot of an umpire, Bucknor did not even bother consulting the third umpire before giving them the all clear. Then to further compound his mistakes, he gave the Indian team raw deals especially in the case of both Dravid and Ganguly. I have to say that the rules say that when you grass a catch, then, it is considered as a dropped catch, that is the rule, but evidently not where the Aussie team is concerned.

Now, the matter has gone beyond the point of no return, and to say that Harbajan is a racist is laughable at the best. Indians may be a lot of things but the one thing that they are not is that of being a racist.

Racism is a purely western idea and even today, there are many western societies that define people based solely on their skin color. But here in India, we have religion, caste and a whole lot of other baggage except for racism. For most of us, we tend to think of skin color as just that, skin deep, no more,no less.

The Aussies seem to have thought that by accusing Harbajan like this, they can throw off the focus of the Indian team. That may well have been their ploy, but now it seems to have backfired as it should have. The Indian team as well as the BCCI is not in any mood to take this insult and defamation to an Indian as well as to the very idea that India stands for, lying down. This is one foot a bit too big for Ricky pointing to fit into his mouth and he is going to have to eat it all, sooner than later especially with the fury increasing by the ton in the Indian camp.

We all talk to each other every single day, does it mean that by talking to you I can be accused of racism? Where is the due process of justice? Do the Aussies not know that as Indians we have been racially abused by the British for a long time until we fought for our freedom? We Indians have always stood against racism and apartheid, our record in that is truly impeccable. All in all, this does not mean well for the Indo-Aussie relations!

With all the news from the rest of the world with assassinations and misery here and there, I think that it is high time that we all took a firm resolve to help the others out. These days the paper seems to be filled with nothing but bad news on both the news articles and the economical section as well. With the recent nandigrqam fiasco where the ruling government tried to take over the villagers land by force and that led to this huge hullabaloo, It is high time that we all stood up and did the right thing. Thank god that everything did work out for those villagers but that is not the case with a whole lot of other people. It seems that the people of Gujarat want the 'Ugly indian' to rule once again, of course, many people call him fascist and many more titles in addition to that, but Modi has had the last laugh today.
The BJP party was never unified in Gujarat and there were many opponents to Narendra Modi in his very own party. Not only did he manage to overcome the inter-party rivalry but also gave the Congress party a routing that it is not going to find it easy to forget.

The elections in Gujarat were held under strained circumstances with all political parties, conveniently forgetting that all are equal under the Indian constitution and playing the race card. Even Sonia Gandhi could not restrain herself and called Modi the merchant of death. With insults flying at him from all corners, and with his parent party unable to do anything much about it, Modi overcame all those jeers.
Having won the elections, the jeers from the opposition in Gujarat is indeed silenced once and for all. One can only hope that we do not end up having a Godhra redux version all over again!

Students given electric shocks by teacher!

We have all been there and done that but we never had electric shocks given to us by our teacher just because we were not paying any attention in class. That was what took place in a little known school in Maharashtra.

It was the physics class and the students were accused of not paying any attention [ come on, how many of us really paid any attention in that class], so they were given electric shocks by their physics teacher, obviously with the goal of inducing them to pay more attention when dr.mengele spoke.
It is sad to see that the teachers are getting increasingly intolerant and as students their rights are being constantly subjugated by the teachers. The Supreme court has outlawed corporal punishment and it still takes place,even today. When I was a student and was punished for something or the other, the worst thing that happened to me was that I had to stay back for detention. These unlucky students who have had a run in with dr.mengele, are scared out of their wits. The current was mild but the damage has already been done. The Mengele teacher has been suspended and an investigation is ongoing, is this how students are taught, with a chalk in one hand and an open wire on the other??

The 'Haneef' episode has left everyone with a really ugly taste in one's mouth and it is not going away anytime soon.The Aussie police and the prosecution had failed to prove their case against dr.Haneef in the high court, and in face of that loss, the ex minister Kevin Andrews labelled Haneff as a person of 'Low character' and said that he had failed the 'character' test, a test that is ambiguous in nature and one that allowed the immigration minister unlimited powers as to who he would allow into 'Down under' and whom he can kick out.

Kevin Andrews and the federal police have single handed destroyed the Aussie image of peace loving and tolerant people. Instead, they have made sure that the only image that the world is going to have of Australia is one of intolerance, hatred and typecasting. The general opinion in Australia is that Kevin Andrews is a colossal ass and as to whether that is true or not, I am not able to confirm.

But when the federal court refused to overturn the high court's verdict regarding Haneef, he [Kevin Andrews] must have felt like one.
Both John Howard and Kevin Andrews have a lot to answer for all they put an innocent man through, stripping him of his civil rights and detaining him under false pretences and manufacturing evidence so that he can be imprisoned.
Anyway, the latest is that dr.Haneef can now get his work visa back and it is true what they say, 'as long as you are right, you will always win'! Congrats, Haneef!

Charles Shobraj was captured in Nepal and found guilty of having killed a dutch tourist and his girlfriend. The police managed to tie him down with the confession that the 'Snake' gave to the Indian police while he was a guest of Indian police. He eluded the Indian police and escaped only to be captured later on in Nepal, where he was charged with the murder of the dutch tourist.
He was found guilty by the Nepalese high court but now on appeal to the Nepalese supreme court,the Judges have found that the evidence against the Snake is too flimsy and they have asked the prosecution team to provide more evidence in this matter. It seems that the current Indian government may face elections sooner than ever, it is caught between a rock and a very immovable hard Left. Whichever decision it undertakes vis-a-vis the Nuclear deal, it has to alienate some of its so called allies.
Lets all take a breather and take a look at this deal, first of all, is this deal good for India - although most of the educated populace may say no at the first time as I was of the same opinion the ground reality is that India is not going to get any deal better than this. That is the nub of the matter, no one is going to step forward and say that India is a nuclear power and we are okay with India building up its nuclear arsenal. So in the long run of things, this deal is the best thing that has happened to India seeing that we do not have that many deals knocking on our front door.

The Russians had offered a similar deal but without the 'yea' of the NSG group so even if the prime minister had gone ahead and signed that deal with the Russians, the NSG group would have blocked it. The Russians would not have lost anything much by that deal getting blocked but our credibility would have hit rock bottom and we may as well forget getting that clearance in the near future.
The Left parties, the allies of the current government seem to be only good at one thing and that is sowing destruction wherever they go to. Take the case of Nandigram, we all know that they were behind the whole dastardly affair, but did the CPI[m] leader have the courtesy to even offer a simple apology, NO, he did not. All he said was that the nandigram villagers were paid with the same coin and this comment came from the chief minister ruling that state. This should tell you about the mentality of the Left parties. Currently they are busy blackmailing the current Congress government and they have warned the Congress party publicly that if they do not toe the Left's line regarding the Americans and the Indo - U.S nuclear deal, then they, the Left parties will withdraw support to the current government and that they would have to face general elections sooner than later.

The Left parties seem to think that they can get away with anything, and now they are trying to impress their ideology of hating anything to do with the west on the entire nation. The Congress party is under pressure to put up with the Left but there is a limit and it has been reached a long time ago. No one with backbone would put up with the antics of the Left parties and the time has come to show the Left parties to take the road. Of course, it would mean that we all would have to face general elections again but that is okay if it means that the left will have no more say in the running of this country.
The Congress party has to realise that the longer they put up with the left parties, they are only tarnishing their own image and it is high time that they stood up for what they believe in.

Karnataka assembly gets dissolved!

The president of India dissolved the Karnataka assembly today and reinstated the presidents rule in the state. I have to say that for all those who are majoring in civics and matters of the state, what is happening in Karnataka must be great news to them as they get to see first hand the inner workings of the Government.
It is sad that the results of the last democratic elections have to be all swept under the rug like this, and this happened, all because a father and son duo got too power hungry. But you know what they say, behave like an ass and you will get treated like one.
The people of Karnataka as well as the people of India are not going to forget this, after all it is their hard earned money that is being washed down the drain like waster water. Every time the elections are held, be they local or general elections cores of rupees are spent and all this comes from the pockets of the common man. And now, with both assemblies being dissolved and the presidents rule back in force in the state, the people of Karnataka will have to wait another 6 months before another democratically elected government can take over!

Emergency to be lifted on Dec 16th?

Musharraf seems to be intent on throwing everyone off balance and that is what he did with the latest announcement that the emergency is to be lifted on December the 16th. Of course the rest of the world will rather wait and see what Musharraf does and truth be told, one cannot blame them for wanting to take whatever Musharraf says with a rather heavy dose of salt. As for the rivals for power in Pakistan, Nawaz sharif and Benazir bhutto, it seems that one of them has decided to boycott the elections where as the other one is under undue pressure from the Americans to contest the elections.

What am I talking about? Well the game for power in Pakistan has began and the Americans as well as Musharraf realise that the Pakistan that accepted military rule in the past will not do so in the current atmosphere, therefore some semblance of democracy should be restored to Pakistan. The Americans would very much prefer that Pakistan be jointly ruled by both the 'Dictatorial' Musharraf and the versatile Bhutto. Even Musharraf realises that Bhutto is the key to his survival in this game for the ultimate power since both he and Sharif detest each other, therefore they would not support one other. Bhutto is fast becoming the most wanted person in Pakistan, one one hand, the entire opposition would like for her to boycott the elections altogether and since the integrity of the current election commission is not all that great, any current elections held under them can be easily overturned by the Supreme court. That said, on the other hand I am sure that Benazir Bhutto realises that the current election could very well see to her becoming the Prime minister again.l Things are very turbulent at the very least in Pakistani politics and I am sure that a few years from now, someone would make a very good soap opera about the whole thing!

There are rumors floating in Pakistan that Musharraf will lift the emergency within 48 hrs. As to the veracity of that rumor that remains to be seem but it was a very similar rumor that had forecast the imposition of the emergency itself.
But common sense suggests that although the imposition of the emergency was easy the removal of it would not be all that easy. For one, Musharraf would want to chalk out an exit strategy for himself and his family before the emergency can be lifted and the Supreme court judges reinstated. At the very lease, he would expect to grant himself and his friends and family members a 'full amnesty' so that no cases can be filed against him or his coterie. After all, that is what all dictators seek out to do when they are pondering an exit strategy, are they not? Just when you think that you know what the politicians are capable of, they do something that makes you think them as someone lesser than animals. What has happened in Nandigram is a case in example, Nandigram is a village located in West bengal, governed by the Left parties. The left parties had proposed to build a SEZ there in Nandigram in collusion with the TATA group and to this end they wanted to evacuate the villagers. The villagers were not interested in moving and fought tooth and nail for their village and their huts.After all, you may find that a beggar would fight all the more fiercely for his torn blanket than you or i would have. The villagers did not have much but whatever they had, they held onto it with dignity and respect. The Left parties sent in the rowdies to displace the villagers forcibly and in the process, raped some of the children of the villagers, shot a few women and men in the backs as they were fleeing and literally terrorised the entire village from top to bottom. In this process, they managed to strip away the dignity and the respect that these villagers held onto. Where is the justice fro Nandigram? Should a chief minister be allowed to hold office after it has been proved that this party and his party alone which was responsible for what has happened at Nandigram? To shoot someone in the back as they are fleeing is not just cowardly but nefarious as well. The villagers are all shell shocked and all of this was done in the name of development and money for the politicians pockets. Where is the justice? Will this cry bring the guilty to dock?

It is indeed a shame that Karnataka is to head for elections all over again and all because a few narrow minded politicians do not know the meaning of the word sacrifice.The BJP-JD[s] coalition fell through all because the BJP party refused to become beholden to the JD[s] party whose support to the continuance of the BJP government was crucial. That said, I have to say that what the BJP party did was tall it could do to hold on to its dignity especially as this is the second time that the JD[S] party has led down the state and the nation.

It is with good cause that the people of Karnataka are very angry with the JD[S] party as they did not want the state to face another round of elections and all in such a short time. Who is to blame for this fiasco? Well, none other than mr Deva gowda and his power hungry son, Kumaraswamy. I have heard that politicians know no honor but these two certainly take the cake when it comes to that. They have no intention of honoring any promises that they had made to the state and the people , so why on earth should we expect this duo to honor anything that they have made to other political parties.
Bangalore is all set to head for another round of elections and I earnestly hope that this time around that the JD[S] does not garner that many votes. The bjp party has indeed acted with aplomb and decency, something that mr deva gowda and his son do not seem to know much about!

We have all been here since the beginning of this saga of the Indo - U.S nuclear deal and I have to say that after reading yesterday's paper where it had mentioned that the Left parties were now okay with the government of India approaching the IAEA for a safeguards agreement, that they have come to their senses. But that relief was short lived as the Left parties clarified their stand today by saying to the media that they are still very much opposed to the Nuclear deal and that if the Prime Minister was to go ahead that they would in all probability pull down this government.
The left parties are still living in ancient times and as far as the Left parties go, no development is good news to them. Is it any surprise that Calcutta, the bastion of the Left parties is so underdeveloped when compared to the other metros, forget the all famous tram system that they have. That has been there since the days of the Raj and so one cannot take it as a mark of development. But other than that, there have not been much movement on the development issues. The left parties would like nothing better than to totally cut off all diplomatic relations with the United states as they consider anything capitalistic in nature to be against their ideologies. Like I said, the Left parties are indeed living in very ancient times and Capitalism is the path of the the future and the Congress party, has to make up its mind soon as to whether it still wants to continue with this ally who seems to be intent of blackballing any development issue that India has especially if the Untied states or the west or involved in it in some way or the other.
The Congress party has to realise that if it does not go ahead with the Nuclear deal, then it stands to lose all credibility before the nation and as a result the damage to its electoral performances the nest time around will be incalculable and no amount of damage control will change that. So it has to make up its mind and tell the Left parties to either ' like it or lump it'.

The European Road trip!

To just drive through the entire Europe is indeed a dream come true for so many of us. First of all for me, as a tourist, with an U.K issued drivers licence it was very easy to get through all the check point of all the Euro member countries. The roads are so smooth and so well maintained and the people are so hospitable and are ready to help you at the drop of the hat.

I started my trip from London and it went all the way to Barcelona. Let me take you through my road trip and I hope that you all will get to experience what I had done in the last 2-3 weeks.
Like I said, I started from Piccadilly Square, with a nice breakfast of fish and chips in my tummy. Let me just say that the 'Fish and chips' is one of the most decent breakfasts that you can get in jolly old England and what is more, you get some reading material to go with it. Barcelona, the city of dreams with its ancient and quixotic history is indeed a place that one can just go on a short road trip and then settle there altogether. What is surprising many is the level of animosity that the Red Dragon is showing the Dalai lama. As such the Dalai lama poses no threat to China yet according to Beijing it is case of 'no holds barred' when it comes to the leader of Free Tibet. Tibet by itself has no value either strategically or economically and of late it has been more of a strain on China's coffers than anything else. So why is the level of animosity on an increase instead of the other way down? But these are queries that I shall try to answer in another post. But what has surprised me is the way that the Indian ministers are doing their best to please China and the brazen way that they are going about this is certainly making the rounds in the diplomatic corps!

Benazir has returned to Pakistan and is currently sitting in the plane waiting to be either arrested or deported. Either way, she is determined to call Musharraf on his threat of destroying her. At the moment, Pakistani politics are in a very turbulent stage and no one knows what tomorrow will bring,literally.
General Musharraf has destabilised Pakistan and all for his desire for power. I guess that his desire for power is much stronger than his oath that he would do all he can to uphold the democratic principles that are enshrined in the constitution of Pakistan. With the way that things are going, it remains to be seen if the current Pakistan-India matches would take place or if the PCB would call the matches off?
I earnestly hope that the latter does not happen and that it would be business as usual for the game of cricket which has certainly bought these two nations much more closer than before!
