BJP will support the U.S-India nuke deal?

The BJP party is redefining its stand on the Indo-U.S nuclear deal. As the Left parties, the coalition partners of the ruling Congress party is opposed firmly to anything American, the BJP party which has already been pro-US may just well support the deal.
This puts the BJP, the opposition in the Parliament, in a kind of a quandary.
They are the opposition, and the deal has been finalised by their arch rivals, the Congress party and now, should they oppose the deal on principle or support the deal because it is in the national interest to do so.
Well, today the BJP answered this interesting question in not so many words and it seems that they may well support this deal, provided the Congress party clarifies their queries and makes a firm commitment that this deal will not cap India's development.
The Indian public, by and large realise that Communism as an ideology and as a principle has no place in the modern era. What is more, the Indian public is extremely annoyed by the Left parties with their antiquated logic and worthless policy decisions. As such, the BJP parties may realise that the anger of the people against the Left parties is growing and they may want to score some 'brownie points' by appearing as the good guys who managed to save the day. So this may be why the BJP is softening to the Indo-U.S nuke deal!

How power hungry can you get?

It is sad but true that 'Absolute power corrupts absolutely'. In the case of Karnataka since there was no decisive verdict in the last elections, the BJP and the JD(U) formed a coalition of sorts, with the JD(U) nominating Mr.Kumaraswamy, the son of the ex prime minister, H.D Deva gowda as the Chief minister of Karnataka for a period of 2 years and a few months. Then after that time was up, the power was to be transferred to the BJP nominee, mr.B S Yeddyurappa. But as the day came near it was obvious to all that the JD(U) wanted to keep the pie to itself and that it was in no mood to share.
As a result of such power hungry moves by Kumaraswamy and his father H.D Deva gowda, the government had to be dismissed and the Presidents rule imposed on the state of Karnataka. In the end it is the people who had to suffer because of the ambitions of the father and son duo. And there were a lot of meetings between the three players on the scene, the Congress party, the BJP party and the JD(U). Many thought that the JD(U) was going to form the government but the Congress party was not willing to trust someone who does not really hesitate to do just about anything to hold on to power. In the end, the JD(U) has done a turnaroud and has given letters of support to the governer of Karnataka indicating that it will support the BJP nominee B S Yeddyurappa as the next chief minister unconditionally. Had they honoured the deal that they had made originally, no one would have to go through all this tension and headache . It seems that the saying 'there is no honor amongst thieves' is all so true in the state of Karnataka.

Come election times and all the politicians go crazy, big time. Gujarat is no exception, Gujarat which had seen some rather ugly communalistic episodes had been slowly recovering. Now, it is time for the elections in Gujarat and accusations are flying thick and fast. These accusations all concern one major political party and one man in particular, Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Thelka which had carried out a sting against the Modi group had claimed that the ruling party at that time which was Narendera modi and the BJP were by and large, responsible for the attack on a certain community. These are the people who were in certain positions of power and they had not done much to stop the riots and what is shocking is that in certain cases they had even made available weapons to the rioters.
As to whether the accusations are true or not, it is sad to see that the Fourth estate become a tool of the politicians. This is the time of the elections and as such any news of this kind which is bound to disturb the communal peace and harmony and thereby disrupt the Democratic election process, should have never been aired at such a time. I think that serious action should be taken against the agency behind the sting operation. It is important that the persons who were guilty of rioting should be punished but most certainly not at the cost of the election! Furthermore, the so called sting just aired hearsay's of certain people and contained no proof of any kind. It seems that the sting operation was almost designed to throw the election off the track. Serious action should indeed be taken against the people behind the sting operation as any one would know that any time an election is scheduled to take place, almost anything can happen and it seems that is about to happen now in Gujarat!

Burns, the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, is increasing the pressure on India as the ruling Congress party is mulling its options. I for one would not fancy being in the Prime Minister's shoes at the moment, not with the pressure that he is currently facing. George Bush needs at least one successful policy decision in his kitty and this is it.

If the Nuke deal falls flat, then Georgie boy will have nothing top show for this presidency except war,loss,debt and death. That's quite an achievement even for George Bush anyway he wants this deal to go through and he has indicated that he is not going to hold back as far as this deal goes.

Politically the Americans understand that if this deal does fall flat then the Russians who are waiting in the wings will just swoop in and then the U.S will be out of the picture as far as Asia goes. So for all the right reasons and the wrong reasons, both the democrats and the republicans in the United states want this deal to go through at all cost . The deal will happen, it is just a matter of timing but for George Bush, it is fast running out as the presidential elections are fast approaching the United states!

The T-20 playoffs!

Today the Indians gave the Aussies that much needed lesson 'talk less,do more' at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The Aussies won the toss and elected to bat, Pointing, the Aussie captain indicated that the 'hard pitch' was the reason that they elected to bat first. Anyway the Indians managed to hold the Aussies to a total of just 166 runs for the loss off 5 wickets.
The Indians managed to start off with Shewag and Gambhir. Although Shewag got out rather quickly, Robin Uthappa and Gambhir got off the Indian innings to a fantastic start and between the two of them managed to get 82 runs. But after that Uthappa was caught and then the pretty soon after that Gmbhir followed him back to the pavilion.
Then it was time for the Indian captain, Dhoni to score some much needed runs which he did partnering along with Yuvraj Singh. In the end, it was Dhoni's six that saw the Indians triumph over the Aussies again in a T-20 game!

The U.S - India nuke runaround!

It has come a full circle, with the United states now on the back foot. All said and done, both India and the United states wanted this deal to go through at any cost, at least that was the case with the Congress government, until their coalition partners, the Left parties threw in the spanner. Now, with the threat to his government, Manmohan singh had no choice but to tell George Bush that the 'Nuclear deal' has to be put on the back burner at least for the time being. This should placate his coalition partners there by assuring that this government will run its full term. One can almost hear the breath of relief all across the Indian parliament.

Today,saw the Indian prime minister call up President Bush, to tell him that due to political opposition from his coalition partners,the Deal has to be put on the back burner for the time being. To say that the Americans were 'shell shocked' would be an understatement of sorts. Let's face facts, the left parties will oppose anything, even if it is for the benefit of the country, as long as it is American. It is that stupid ideology of the Left parties that has caused so much havoc and confusion. It is high time that the Left parties understood that such 'Communist' principles belong only in the past and that the future holds no place for such antiquated ideals.

The Russians are busy preparing a Nuclear deal with India along the lines of the American deal and this news alone, by itself must be irking the Americans a great deal. They did all the hard spade work with India, the NSG group as well as the other member nations of the U.N security council. And now at the time that the American deal is being consigned to the back burner, along come the Russians with their version of a deal and may well end up doing the job and walking away with the credit. The Americans cannot, in all fairness oppose any such deal and they know it and so do the Russians. What is more, the Left parties whose ideological stand makes them oppose any deal with the Americans will very gladly welcome any deal with the Russians. Russia knows that it can get a nuclear deal signed with India and that it can walk away with all the credit after all the hard work put in by the Americans and Nicholas burns. Considering the fact that a deep chill has descended of late on the relations between the two super powers, they, the Russians may well do that.India will have a nuclear deal signed within 2 years, that is not in doubt, but the real question is with whom?

The 'Smart' Indian politicians!

According to Yale university, they were surprised by the intelligence of the Politicians in India. Well, I could have told them that most of the Indian politicians are indeed very smart. After all, one only has to look to the various ways they try and circumvent the law. If you were to take a poll all across India, you will find that most of the Indians consider that the politicians are some of the smartest robbers in this world. They have indeed proved time and time again that they have the brains. So what Yale has said is not anything new but rather a confirmation of what we already know. Since they were smart to cheat the Indian government, the Indian tax man and the Indian public, time and time again, we naturally expect our politicians to be the toppers in any intelligence test.

The washout of a match!

Today saw the Indians and the Aussies going head to head at Nagpur, the city of oranges. The Aussies batted first setting up a high total of 318, quite a formidable feat. But then, they were helped in this by a bit of shoddy Indian bowling, which was simply not up to the mark. What is more, in the very last overs, they managed to give the Aussies about 50 runs and more. This is not what one expects from the Indian super bowlers and naturally the home crowd were disappointed, to say the least.
When the Indians started their innings, both Tendulkar and Ganguly managed to put on a sterling partnership and managed to get the Indian score total above 100. Then Tendulkar was caught in the deep end going for a boundary. However, Ganguly managed to stay on and partnered with two more batsmen before getting out himself at 86. I must say that Ganguly's performance has improved a lot since I last saw him - the selectors would have been blind not to have seen that today in the field.
After Ganguly was gone, the momentum went with him. Dravid did not do much and soon he was out as well. Just when all hope seemed to be lost in the Indian dresing room, in came Dhoni and Robin Uthappa,and they both put on quite a good patnership. There was also a bit of misfielding by Lee, missing out on an easy catch and I am sure that the Aussie skipper would have quite a few choice words to say to him. Anyway Dhoni and Uthappa's efforts went to naught and soon it was time for the last over to be bowled.
All in all, I have to say that the Indian team and the Aussie team put on quite a good show. It is a shame that not much came out of it. It kind of reminds one of the 'charge of the light brigade'. Brave and defiant to the very end,that about sums it all up for today's match against the Aussies. The Indian skipper should remember that if it had not been for some serious shoddy bowling on the part of the Indian spinners especially during the end of the Aussie innings, they may have well won the match with a few balls to spare. Now the Indians have lost the series to the Aussies at home, and one can only hope that the Indian team will be all eager to settle the score once they get to down under to play another series against the Aussies and win it.After all, the law of averages is bound to catch up, and India has been pretty Down Under against the Aussie ODI bandwagon !

A climbdown on the Nuclear deal??

Today at a public meeting the prime minister of India,dr.Manmohan singh said that the nuclear deal is important to India and that he would like it to be finalised.but in the event that it did not do so,he would be disappointed,but life would go on.this is quite a climbdown for the ruling Congress party which had been gung-ho about this deal until now.
What is even more intriguing is that the position of the government had come at a time when the IAEA chief was in India.there are many rumors doing the rounds that the Congress party is just trying to placate its partners in the coalition government and that they are just bidding for time.all said and done,no where had the Congress party mentioned that they are giving up the deal.as the parliament closes for the winter,that would be a ripe time for the current government,that is the congress party to move ahead with the deal.since once the parliament shuts down,there is little that this government's coalition partners can do to enforce their point of view!there is a shady game going on over here,how it will end,we will be able to know that in a couple of months!

The Big B trurns 65 and gives a beating to the crowd!

Every time there is some news item about the Big B,that is about the bollywood actor,Amitabh bachan,the whole world goes crazy.at least it must hgave from the fuss that everyone is making.i like Amitabh bachan just as much as i would like any other film actor.but i think that everyone needs to have a reality check taken.i mean,in the end he is just as human as you and me,so why idolise him like this?
I can understand the fact that he is quite a good actor,and has won many Indian and International awards.but all the awards aside,he is not divine,is he?so he turns 65,and everyone in Delhi makes a huge fuss about it.and what happened?some overzealous fans wanted to greet him,so his security men took out their batons and made a lathi charge on the crowd which by the way comprised of men,women and children.they all got hurt and their egos slammed to the ground and what did the Big B do,he just smiled and waved!
i ask you,is this the way that we should allow a select few to treat the rest of the populace of India?surely we all have much better things to do than hang around Big B;s house,only to be beaten by his security honchos!
